Penton’s EquipmentWatch Expands the EquipmentWatch Index to Cover Major Heavy Equipment Categories: Construction, Agricultural and Truck

The addition of agriculture to the INDEX is just the first step in EquipmentWatch’s coverage of ag equipment.  Currently in BETA, Green Guide, Ag, when launched in late 2014, will provide a leading online resource for resale values, quick-sale values, original prices, and product specs for ag equipment produced over the past 20 years.

Construction Equipment

  • Southeast prices dropped 4.9% compared to July on average.
  • Auction volume increased by over 8.9%.
  • The average age of resale equipment sold this month was 8.5 years.

Agricultural Equipment

  • Prices went down while volume increased by over 20% in several states.
  • The biggest price drop was in the Southeast, with a median decrease of 10.4%.
  • The average age of Wheel Tractors dropped by over a year to 11.1 years.

On-Highway Truck

  • Heavy Duty trucks comprised 51.1% of the trucks on the market.
  • Volume increased substantially this month.
  • The average age of trucks on the resale market decreased across all three major categories age increased by 3.6% and 2.4% in the resale and auction markets, respectively

The report is focused on data collected between  August 1, 2014 and August 31, 2014 and analyzed in context using data drawn from EquipmentWatch’s “The Last Bid”™ database of 1.4+ million records, as well as our proprietary resale activity database, with over 500k unique transactions records in August.
